UFA completes New Simulator for Israeli Air Force

December 5th, 2016, Ouvda Air Force Base, Israel. UFA Inc, a leader in air traffic control simulation systems, achieved site acceptance of a 360-degree ATTower® Air Traffic Control (ATC) Tower Simulation System (TSS) for the Israel Air Force’s new controller training center.

The IAF TSS configuration consists of a 22-channel HD LCD based visual system and associated image generators. The system can be run as one 360-degree simulator or two 180-degree simulators. A 5.1 Surround Sound System is also connected to the IG13 workstation for providing realistic 3D sound of simulated aircraft and vehicles within the Visual System.

The new simulator is expected to shorten the ground controllers’ training period from 6 months to 6 weeks. “The new simulator is one of the most advanced in the world and simulates events exactly as they are viewed from the control towers in IAF AFBs”, shared Lt. Col. Shay, Commander of the ATC Unit at Ouvda AFB. “We now have the ability to train our controllers for scenarios that are difficult to simulate in reality, such as fire in an engine”.
